Cluster Rules Cogeneration ProjectBerlin, New Hampshire
Project Description: The Fraser Pulp Mill in Berlin, New Hampshire needed to comply with the Cluster Rules. The solution was to integrate a cogeneration plant into the existing facility. IEA teamed with Cianbro to engineer, procure, construct and start-up the 25 MW cogeneration plant.
The work also included the addition of a fuel condensate collection system and subsequent incineration of Stripper Off Gasses (SOG). The packaged boiler also incinerated Non-Condensable Gases (NCG) and used No. 6 oil as its primary fuel.
IEA and Cianbro worked very closely with the client during the development phase of the project. This resulted in a large reduction in the overall project cost.
The project included:
- 25 MW Extracting/Non-Condensing Steam Turbine
- State of the Art Pollution Control Train Including Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Scrubber and Wet Electro Static Precipitator (ESP)
- Foul Condensate Stripping System
- Upgraded Distributed Control System
- 175,000pph Packaged Boiler with Burner Management System for Two Fuels and Two Incinerated Streams
