Midtown Thermal Control Center
Atlantic City, New Jersey

Project Description: IEA provided engineering, design, and construction management support for a chilled water conversion project at Midtown Thermal Control Center (MTCC). MTCC is a district energy facility supplying steam and chilled water to customers in Atlantic City, NJ. The MTCC chilled water system was designed with a primary and secondary loop. IEA improved the capacity and efficiency of the system by accomplishing the following:
  • Eliminating the two-loop system configuration.
  • Modifying Yokogawa DCS control logic to utilize secondary chilled water pumps to maintain system flow.
  • Converting the control logic to control the system based on dP.
  • Upgrading performance & efficiency of existing 14 York chillers.
The chilled water conversion project included equipment, piping, control system and instrumentation engineering and design work, the preparation of construction bid packages and construction management support to Conectiv at MTCC.
