Project Description: IEA provided engineering, design, and construction management support for a chilled water conversion project at Midtown Thermal Control Center (MTCC). MTCC is a district energy facility supplying steam and chilled water to customers in Atlantic City, NJ. The MTCC chilled water system was designed with a primary and secondary loop. IEA improved the capacity and efficiency of the system by accomplishing the following:
- Eliminating the two-loop system configuration.
- Modifying Yokogawa DCS control logic to utilize secondary chilled water pumps to maintain system flow.
- Converting the control logic to control the system based on dP.
- Upgrading performance & efficiency of existing 14 York chillers.
